ARTSFEST 2021

For my project, I created myself into a goddess associated with nature, generosity, and warmth. I chose to paint myself with my hand on my heart as a gesture of connection and compassion to oneself, and therefore others. The flowers and leaves surrounding me represent the beauty in nature, and I used warm colors to get that delicate and warm feeling. This also applies to the leaves in my hair, which also represent honoring nature. I also pictured myself holding wheat. Originally, I just wanted to have my other hand in that position because that body language felt caring, but knew it would look like I was meant to be holding something — so I chose wheat. To me that seems similar to something that would be pictured in a mythological painting, but also represents providing food and abundance.
