My artwork is a digital self-portrait in which I am portrayed as a goddess of dusk, heralding in the darkness with wings of night sky. I was inspired by the posing and outfitting of traditional paintings of mythos, clothing the figure in drapery in a lighter color to contrast the darkness of the wings and complement the shade and tone of the figure's skin tone. The lavender of the drapery also complements the deeper purples within the wings and the hair. For the background, I referenced a sunset photo and that inspired me to change the wings from full dark to the fading glow of sunset, which led me to the idea of a goddess of the dusk, as I built my concept from the reference up rather than beginning with a concept.
